“I recently began at LifeStance with Dr. Suzanna King, and the first appointment seemed to go well, although she pushed the Bi-Polar diagnosis HARD. I began antipsychotic medication and then when I couldn’t sleep for more than 2 hours at a time, I couldn’t reach her via the patient portal OR the phone for almost 3 weeks. When she finally got back to me, she informed me she was on vacation. We had our follow-up telehealth appointment this morning and it was traumatic to say the least. She was cold, dismissive, cut me off repeatedly, insisted that I didn’t follow her orders even though I followed everything she told me to, told me she’s “not a babysitter,” at which point I said I don’t expect you to be, but I AM your patient and I was nervous when I couldn’t speak to ANYONE for weeks when I was a brand new patient and had just begun heavy antipsychotic medications. When I became tearful because of how cruel she was being, she told me repeatedly that I’m “just manic” because I’m bipolar. I asked her if I did something to cause her to dislike me so much and treat me so cruelly and she said “I speak to all my patients like this.” It feels like any improvement I made over the past 3 weeks since beginning this new medication just flew right out the window. If I were any less stable, this call could have driven me to self harm. And as a cherry on top, even though she was late to our call she said “I have to go, this call can only be 30 min and I’ve used all my time on you,” and she promptly hung up on me. The evil and cruel way she looked at me and spoke to me were absolutely mind-blowing. I am an easy patient, I pay my bills. I am agreeable and peaceful. I show up on time and follow instructions. I have NEVER been treated like this before and no one should EVER see Dr. King if this is her common behavior. I may be OCD, I may be anxious, depressed and heck even bi-polar as she is so convinced I am, but that does not mean that I can’t have emotions outside of my mental illnesses. I can be hurt and sad because someone is being hurtful and cruel…I can cry because someone is being awful. That does mean I’m manic. Shame on you Dr. King AND LifeStance for this type of care.”

“Please avoid. Dr. King is a textbook narcissist, who clearly doesn't care about patients. She was 20 minutes late for the appointment. She spent extensive time describing how she is the expert and how much time she spent in school. She spoke over me the entire time. She asked questions, but would cut me off if the answer didn't fit her narrative or diagnosis. She left the appointment early and hung up on me.”
